In-office blood draw services for ProHeath patients
September 15, 2023
Getting your blood drawn just got easier. Many ProHealth locations statewide now have a phlebotomist (a blood draw technician) on site. This new service — available only to ProHealth patients — has many advantages.
Convenient services right in your doctor’s office
If you've made an appointment that requires blood work, your doctor will probably order it a week or two before your visit. We can schedule your blood draw at your doctor’s office or a ProHealth office near you. We'll also send you a text reminder of your appointment.
If your doctor orders blood work during your visit and there are phlebotomists on site, you can get your blood drawn right away. And if your doctor decides to order more tests, we may not need to do a second blood draw.
You can even get blood drawn with orders from non-ProHealth doctors and specialists. All we need is paperwork or a lab order from them.
Walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is needed if your doctor ordered blood work.
To fast or not to fast
For some blood tests, you may be told not to eat or drink for a certain amount of time before the test. This is called fasting.
Most blood tests can be done without fasting, like:
- Standard blood count
- Kidney, liver and thyroid measurements
Common blood tests that may require fasting include:
- Glucose tests
- Triglyceride/cholesterol levels
- Iron tests
Your doctor will let you know if you need to fast before your blood work.
No paperwork or lab orders needed
If a ProHealth doctor ordered your blood work, you don't need to bring paperwork or lab orders. Our phlebotomist can easily look up your order in our system.
